Characteristics of Floral Fonts

Obviously, floral fonts are fonts which resemble flowers and plants. Since the purpose of these fonts is to attract attention, then you can also say that these fonts are decorative. After all, they exist to beautify a lot of things, from logos, posters, to wedding invitations.

The characteristics of these fonts may as well involve these attributes:

Stroke weight.

The level of thickness or thinness can be adjusted. For example: if you prefer flowers of ivy plants curling around the letters, then the lettering should be thin. If the flowers or plants are meant to be decorative, then the strokes can be thick.

Style.

The lettering style can be straight, angular, or willowy – following the type of flowers to use as part the type of flowers to use as part of the decoration. Oftentimes, the flowers or the willowy ivy plants can be just icons to beautify the letters.

Point size.

The height of the letter might depend on your flowery design. For example: the lettering can be short if you want to make the flowers appear more dominant and vice versa. Another way of highlighting the flowers is to put them as the letters’ motifs or decoration.

Character width.

You can set the character to fixed, which makes the lettering and the flowery design look rather rigid. You can also set it to becoming more proportional, depending on which part of the design you would like to highlight. Another option is to combine both, depending on what you need. For example: the fixed fonts for the inside of the wedding invites and the proportional ones as the main decoration.

The rest of the characteristics for floral fonts can be adjusted according to the concept of your design. For example: you may apply monochromatic colours for a classic look, darker hues for goth-like style, or bright and colourful ones for something girly, feminine, and joyful-looking.

What You Can Do with Floral Fonts

Floral fonts represent femininity and grace. Flowers are often seen during spring and summer … or on sunny days if you live in a tropical country.

There are so many things we can do with these fonts. We can use these fonts for wedding stationery, wedding invitations, logos for flower shops (obviously!), packaging, and even social media postings. You can even incorporate these flowery fonts in other platforms or apps, like Photoshop and Canva.

Of course, since flowers also represent class, femininity, and love, it is no surprise they are often used for wedding purposes. It is no surprise that many of us prefer using floral fonts as part of wedding invitations. Whatever the choices of colour or shade may be, the flowers are there.
